Supervision

I am a Qualified Supervisor for both Registered Mental Health Counseling Interns and Registered Marriage and Family Interns who are pursuing licensure with the State of Florida.  The ultimate goal of supervision is for the Intern to become a licensed professional, who is able to practice both independently and with a strong code of ethics in their chosen area of specialty.

The Supervision Process includes: documenting current clinical strengths, setting goals for growth areas, case review, diagnosis and treatment planning, continuous laws and ethics review (including confidentiality of client records and mandatory reporting laws), and training on treatment modalities and interventions.

I have enjoyed helping many graduate interns and registered interns get their start in private practice.  Part of my supervision includes consulting on marketing, private practice setup, and staying afloat in private practice in today’s world.  And of course, passing the licensure exam!

I specialize in the treatment of Trauma and Abuse history, Grief and Loss, Eating Disorders, Adult ADHD, Adult Autism Spectrum, Burnout, and Religious Trauma.  I believe that counseling should be a safe space.  I utilize a client centered and client directed approach to therapy.  I am often heard teaching, “So much of trauma is rooted in a lack of control of one’s own story, and it’s very important that the client have control over how their story is processed in the counseling space”.

I use various techniques from Gestalt Therapy, Object Relations Theory, Attachment Theory, Systems Theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy (Sue Johnson), Existentialism, Cognitive Behavioral, Animal Assisted Psychotherapy, Experiential Therapies, and Creative Therapies into my work with clients.  I do longer term, deep soul work and help my supervises do the same with their clients.

I supervise Registered Interns who choose to specialize in any of the areas listed above.  Registered Interns undergo a short screening process before supervision sessions begin.

Registered Interns meet weekly or bi-weekly for supervision.  Supervision fees are $140 a supervision session.  This fee includes any private practice consulting that may happen, including access to documents.
